Parental Rights

"De Facto" Parental Rights

"Parental" rights are evolving.  Maine law now recognizes "de facto" parental rights for people who are not the biological or legal parents in some cases, so long as these folks have actually acted as parents to the child.  See Pitts v. Moore, (2014 ME 59), and The Maine Parentage Act, 19-A M.R.S.A. §1831.  We have experience in these types of cases.
